As part of the celebration marking World Environment Day, the Lagos State Ministry of the Environment and Water Resources, led by Hon. Barr. Tokunbo Wahab, has honoured Otedola Estate, located in Eredo LCDA, with the prestigious title of Cleanest Community in Epe Division.
Ekohotblog reports that the award was presented during a vibrant ceremony held at the Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Secretariat, where environmental champions across various communities gathered to celebrate achievements in cleanliness and sustainability.

Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Engr. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, officially presented the award, which was received on behalf of Eredo LCDA Chairman, Hon. Ismail Monsuru Akinloye, by Johnson Hammed Temitope, APC Councillorship candidate for Ward K1.
Reacting to the recognition, Johnson Hammed praised the community’s consistent efforts in environmental sanitation and thanked the state government for the honour.
“We are truly grateful for this recognition,” he said. “It reflects the hard work and discipline of the people of Otedola Estate, and the commitment of Hon. Monsuru Akinloye’s administration to environmental sustainability.”
He added, “This is more than just an award, it’s a call to keep raising the bar. Cleanliness is not a one-off effort but a continuous lifestyle that shows good leadership and community values.”
In his remarks, Engr. Olowa lauded the estate’s achievement and encouraged other communities to adopt similar practices.
