The Lagos State Government has expressed concern over the low participation of Lagos indigenes in recent recruitment exercises.
The state, therefore, called on the youth to consider enrolling in the Nigerian military, EKO HOT BLOG reports.

Mrs Bimbola Salu-Hundeyin, the Secretary to the State Government, made the plea on Wednesday during a quarterly meeting with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) in Ikeja.
According to her, national security is a shared responsibility and that serving in the military is not only a duty to the nation but also to the state.
“It’s disheartening to see the lack of involvement of Lagos youths in the military, especially during the last recruitment drive,” Salu-Hundeyin said.
She pointed out that the Federal Government has allocated 150 recruitment slots for each state, but Lagos has consistently fallen short in filling these positions.
“We’ve been seriously underrepresented in the military. It’s an opportunity that Lagos indigenes should not miss again,” she urged, highlighting that military service is a crucial aspect of national security.
Salu-Hundeyin further explained that while not everyone can don a military uniform, the government has opened pathways for those interested, urging youth to take advantage of these opportunities.
“Unfortunately, many of our children in Lagos don’t see why they should join the military. But by neglecting this, we are short-changing our own state,” she added.
