According to Tinubu, his administration chose to implement difficult but necessary policies to place Nigeria on a path of sustainable development and national prosperity.
Since assuming office on May 29, 2023, the government has introduced several economic reforms, including the removal of fuel subsidy and the unification of the foreign exchange market, which it says are intended to stabilise the economy and improve the welfare of Nigerians.

While acknowledging that the policies have imposed short-term challenges on many citizens, the President maintained that the reforms are necessary for the country’s long-term progress.
He said nation-building requires courage, patience and a willingness to embrace difficult decisions, noting that meaningful development often comes with temporary sacrifices.
Tinubu also described reform as a continuous process rather than a one-time event, stressing that the goal is to build a stronger economy that will provide greater opportunities and a better quality of life for future generations.
The President said all arms of government remain committed to supporting the reform agenda and ensuring that its benefits reach every part of the country.
According to him, effective governance depends on cooperation between the executive, legislature and the Nigerian people, adding that national development should take precedence over political differences.

He urged political actors to place Nigeria’s interests above partisan considerations, saying elections may produce winners and losers, but the country’s unity and progress must remain the ultimate priority.
Addressing members of the newly inaugurated PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, Tinubu encouraged them to engage Nigerians respectfully, listen to their concerns and strengthen public confidence in democracy through constructive engagement.
He said those involved in the movement should see themselves as ambassadors of democratic values, promoting unity, dialogue and service to the people.
The President added that politics should be driven by patriotism and a commitment to national development, expressing confidence that the administration’s reforms would ultimately lay the foundation for a more prosperous Nigeria.
