The swearing-in ceremony took place at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office in Agodi, Ibadan.
During the event, Governor Makinde emphasized his administration’s continued commitment to working closely with and supporting the judiciary and legislative arms of government.
He stressed the importance of maintaining a functional system, highlighting the cordial relationship his administration has maintained with the judiciary over the past five years.
Addressing concerns about the appointment process, Makinde affirmed that Justice Abdulganiyu’s selection followed due process and recommendations, without any political, religious, or ethnic considerations.
“He is a Muslim. He is also not from Ibadan; he is from Igbeti. But we don’t care here in this state. We follow due process. Here, we do what is right,” the governor stated.
Makinde further clarified that Justice Abdulganiyu’s emergence as the President of the Customary Court of Appeal was based on recommendations made to the National Judicial Council (NJC), and his subsequent confirmation, ensuring that the process was not short-circuited.
In his remarks, the newly sworn-in President of the Customary Court of Appeal, Justice Abdulganiyu, pledged to promote customary laws, emphasizing that they are enforceable and not inferior to English laws.
He assured the people of Oyo State that he would work towards enhancing the functionality of the Customary Court, preserving an important inheritance that must not be allowed to become extinct.
