Oyo Lifts Curfew, Permits Cross-over Services

The Oyo state government has announced the  suspension of the nationwide the 12am to 4am  curfew imposed by the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19.

Ekohotblog reports that the state governor, Seyi Makinde, announced the development in a statement on Wednesday.

According to the statement issued by Taiwo Adisa, chief press secretary to the governor, the move was to allow Christians in the state to hold physical cross-over services.

Adisa said religious houses must strictly adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and health advisoroes during the cross-over services between December 31 and January 1.

“Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, on Wednesday, approved the suspension of the 12 a.m. to 4 a.m. curfew earlier imposed on states by the Federal Government, saying that officials of the State’s Task Force on Covid-19 will ensure strict compliance to the guidelines and advisories during the Yuletide and after,” the statement reads

“The governor has, therefore, directed that religious centres be allowed to hold crossover worship services only in strict compliance with COVID-19 protocols.”
