Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has urged the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, to avoid inciting unrest in Oyo State.
Makinde made this appeal in response to Wike’s recent statement, where he threatened to “ignite conflict” against any Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governor supporting Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, in taking control of the party’s structure in Rivers.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that Wike issued the threat during the PDP state congress at the party’s secretariat in Port Harcourt. He stated, “Let me assure all of you, as long as we live, no one will take the PDP structure away from us.
“I hear some governors saying they will take over the structure and give it to someone else.
“I pity those governors because I will set fire in their states.”
He continued, “When God gives you peace, and you reject it, you must face the consequences.”
Wike specifically named Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, vowing to make life difficult for governors who leave their states to meddle in Rivers politics.
However, during an event organized by the Ijaw World Congress in Port Harcourt, held in Wike’s honor, Makinde emphasized the significant positive contributions Wike made during his time as Rivers State governor.
He noted that these achievements were the reason Wike commands respect.
Speaking at the event, Makinde said: “I came to Rivers to show support for my brother, Nyesom Wike. When I arrived yesterday, I brought a peace offering because he has been boasting about setting fire in some states. I told him, ‘Please, don’t set fire in Oyo State.'”
He added, “On behalf of my fellow governors and former governors present here, I want to commend you for the incredible work you did for your people. Since my arrival, I have seen several projects completed during your eight-year tenure as governor.”
