The Oyo State Command of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has detained 40 illegal immigrants from various areas in Akinyele Local Government Area.
Eko Hot Blog reports that acting on reliable intelligence, the operation led to the capture of individuals from Cameroon, Ghana, Benin, and Togo.
Comptroller Tayo Dada stated that among the arrested individuals, eight were female, and 32 were male, aged between 18 and 35.
Profiling revealed that 27 were Cameroonian, two were Ghanaian, ten were Beninese, and one was Togolese.
The majority claimed to be engaged in online marketing, while others stated they were farmers.
Investigations found that all 40 migrants entered Nigeria through unauthorized routes and lacked valid residence permits or travel documents.
The Comptroller General of Immigration, Kemi Nanna Nandap, has ordered the migrants to be repatriated to their respective countries following standard procedures.
