There was panic in the Okpanam area of Asaba, Delta State, on Saturday after a man was reportedly swept away by floodwaters following a heavy downpour.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident, which was captured in a viral video, drew the attention of passersby who made frantic efforts to rescue the victim from the fast-moving flood.

In the footage seen, the man appeared overwhelmed by the strong current as residents gathered around, attempting to pull him to safety.
A woman recording the incident could be heard repeatedly calling on bystanders to assist in the rescue effort, expressing concern over the victim’s condition as his head remained submerged in the water for some time.
The woman also warned a young boy against moving closer to the floodwater, fearing he could also be swept away.

“God save him. This other man in the vehicle can’t come and help to rescue this man? What kind of problematic rain is this? God of mercy, please help this man,” she was heard saying in the video.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over flooding in parts of Asaba during periods of heavy rainfall.
As of the time of filing this report, the condition of the victim had not been officially confirmed.
