According to sources, the crisis began after an altercation between a commercial motorcyclist, said to be of Yoruba extraction, and a Hausa man allegedly resulted in the death of the motorcyclist.
Residents said the situation worsened about 24 hours later when relatives of the deceased allegedly launched a reprisal attack, leading to a breakdown of law and order in the affected communities.

A resident who spoke on the development said, “There is an ongoing clash between Hausa and Yoruba in Ojoo. It was learned that a Hausa man killed a Yoruba person yesterday night, and Yoruba people are retaliating now. We should all be careful with our movement around Ojoo.”
Security operatives from Operation Burst, Oyo State’s joint security outfit, were reportedly deployed to the area to restore calm and prevent further violence.
As of the time of filing this report, the Police Public Relations Officer of the Oyo State Police Command, CSP Olayinka Ayanlade, had not issued an official statement on the incident despite efforts to obtain the command’s reaction.
The circumstances surrounding the reported killing and the ensuing violence remain unconfirmed by the police.
