EKO HOT BLOG reports that Sambo also pledged his full support for the ongoing rebuilding and repositioning efforts being driven by the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki led National Working Committee, NWC.
The former vice president made the declaration while receiving members of the PDP national leadership who paid him a courtesy visit at his Abuja residence.
Speaking during the visit, Sambo assured the party leadership of his commitment to the PDP, describing the party as a platform that has played a critical role in Nigeria’s democratic journey. He said the task of rebuilding the party was necessary and timely, pledging to support all efforts aimed at strengthening its structures nationwide.
Earlier, the PDP National Chairman, Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, said the visit was to brief Sambo on the current state of the party, its challenges, and the roadmap for repositioning ahead of future elections. He commended the former vice president for his contributions to Nigeria’s democracy, particularly the sacrifices made by leaders of the Jonathan administration during the 2015 transition.
Turaki noted that the party was engaging key stakeholders across the country to rebuild trust, unity and internal cohesion, adding that Sambo’s support would further reinforce the process.
Also present at the meeting, the Chairman of the PDP Board of Trustees, Senator Adolphus Wabara, alongside Senator Jonah Jang, Professor Jerry Gana, Hajiya Inna Ciroma and Hon. Frederick Agbedi, expressed confidence in the PDP’s future.
They said the backing of senior party leaders such as Sambo would strengthen ongoing consultations and reposition the party ahead of upcoming political contests.
