EKO HOT BLOG reports that the meeting, led by the PDP National Chairman, Tanimu Turaki, took place at Jonathan’s office in Maitama, Abuja. Turaki arrived alongside other members of the National Working Committee and a few selected state party chairmen at about 5:45 pm.
The party leaders were conveyed in several Sports Utility Vehicles, reflecting the high level and sensitive nature of the engagement.
Sources within the party disclosed that the meeting was convened to brief the former president on the worsening internal challenges facing the PDP and to seek his counsel on efforts by the current leadership to stabilise and reposition the party ahead of future political contests.
According to the sources, the discussion was also expected to cover broader national and political developments, given Jonathan’s standing as a former president and a key stakeholder within the party.
One of the sources said the leadership considered it necessary to consult Jonathan due to his experience and past role in resolving internal disputes within the PDP.
“The leadership felt it was important to brief and consult the former president on developments within the party and seek his guidance at this critical time,” the source said.
Jonathan remains one of the most influential and respected figures within the PDP and has previously intervened quietly in moments of internal tension to promote unity and reconciliation.
As of the time of filing this report, the meeting was still ongoing. No official statement had been released by the PDP leadership or the media office of the former president.

The development comes amid renewed concerns over leadership cohesion and internal alignments within the party, as stakeholders continue to push for stability and a clear direction ahead of upcoming electoral cycles.
