The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has suspended its National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Ajibade, SAN, amidst internal crises plaguing the party since 2023.
Both officials were at the forefront of calls for the PDP’s National Chairman, Umar Damagum, to strictly adhere to the party’s constitution in handling its affairs.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that in a statement issued early Friday by the PDP’s National Director of Publicity, Chinwe Nnorom, the party revealed that a special committee, chaired by the Deputy National Chairman (South), Taofeek Arapaja, has been set up to investigate the concerns raised against the two suspended officers.
The statement reads: “The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), arising from its 593rd Meeting held on Thursday, October 10, 2024, has directed the National Publicity Secretary, Hon. Debo Ologunagba, and National Legal Adviser, Kamaldeen Adeyemi Ajibade, SAN, to step aside from their roles with immediate effect.
“To address the issues raised, the NWC has constituted a committee chaired by Deputy National Chairman (South) Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja, which will investigate the officers in compliance with the provisions of the party’s constitution.”
The NWC also announced that the deputies of the suspended officers will assume their roles in an acting capacity while the investigation is ongoing.
Ibrahim Abdullahi Manga has been appointed Acting National Publicity Secretary, while Okechukwu Osuoha will serve as Acting National Legal Adviser, effective Friday, October 11, 2024.
“The NWC enjoins all leaders, critical stakeholders, and teeming members of our great party to remain focused and committed as it pilots the day-to-day affairs of the PDP for the greater good of the party,” the statement added.
This development is the latest in a series of internal conflicts within the PDP, which have seen growing tensions among the party’s leadership since 2023.
The outcome of the investigation is expected to shed more light on the root causes of these disagreements and how they will impact the party moving forward.
