The fire reportedly broke out on Wednesday morning as per the reports.
EKO HOT BLOG reports that Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party (LP) in the February 25 election, has commiserated with victims of the fire outbreak at Akere Spare Parts Market in Olodi-Apapa, Ajegunle, Lagos.
In a statement posted on his verified Twitter handle, Obi urged the government and relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the fire outbreak and find ways to help the affected victims.

According to a statement by Margaret Adeseye, the Fire Service Director, the market went up in flames early on Wednesday morning, and the Ajegunle Fire Station was the first to respond to the incident. Although there were no reports of casualties, properties worth millions of Naira were destroyed in the inferno.
Peter Obi expressed concern over the loss of means of livelihood and properties and called on the government to take responsibility for protecting lives and property. He stressed the need for equal protection under the law and urged the government to find ways to forestall future occurrences of fire outbreaks.
He said:
“I commiserate deeply with all those affected by this fire disaster. I call on the government and relevant authorities to investigate the cause of the fire outbreak thoroughly and forestall future occurrences while finding ways to help the affected victims.”
Obi’s call for a thorough investigation and prompt assistance to the victims is expected to help prevent future occurrences of such disasters in the country.
