LP has postponed Ekiti and Ondo presidential rallies.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the Labour Party announced on Wednesday (today) that its presidential campaign rally in Ekiti and Ondo states would no longer hold as earlier scheduled.

The party did not give much detail as to why the events were postponed, but it blamed unavoidable and unusual circumstances beyond its control in a terse statement made available to newsmen today.

The party, however, assured its supporters and all stakeholders that the new dates for its rally in the states would be announced soon.

The statement read, “Due to some unavoidable and unusual circumstances beyond control, our earlier scheduled presidential campaign rally in Ekiti and Ondo for 15th and 16th December 2023 is hereby postponed. A new date will be announced. We regret the inconvenience caused by this.”

The announcement is coming a day after Labour Party experienced a poor turnout in Kogi State.

The party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi and his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed were in Lokoja, Kogi State capital, on Tuesday for a presidential campaign in respect to the forthcoming 2023 general elections. Photos taken from the rally, however, showed empty seats from the stadium used.

A development that has attracted comments from the opposition parties. Also, it is observed that since the October 18 commencement of rallies by the Labour Party, the party has not been consistent with its schedule. The rally held in Kogi on Tuesday had been announced to hold on October 23.

Other rallies scheduled for October that failed to hold included the ones meant for Niger, Kwara, Bayelsa, Rivers and Cross River.
