EKO HOT BLOG reports that a principal official of the ADC in Abuja disclosed this during an interview on Saturday, revealing that preparations were already underway among Obi’s supporters and loyalists in anticipation of his defection.
According to the party official, Peter Obi recently met with the National Chairman of the ADC, David Mark, following the party’s request that he clarify his political direction about three weeks ago. The meeting was said to have strengthened Obi’s resolve to align fully with the ADC coalition.
The source added that the party’s firm position may have influenced the former Anambra governor’s decision to make a final commitment to the ADC.
It was further disclosed that Obi is expected to formally declare for the party during a rally scheduled to hold in Enugu on December 31.
“We are aware that Peter Obi is making plans to declare for the ADC on December 31 in Enugu. Although he has yet to formally inform the party, the plans are genuine,” the party source said.
Explaining why Obi would choose Enugu rather than Anambra State for the declaration, the official noted the political significance of the city within the South East.
“Enugu is the political capital of the South East. Obi is representing the region, not just his state. That must have informed his decision,” he said.
Reacting to the development, the National Publicity Secretary of the ADC, Bolaji Abdullahi, said he could not confirm Obi’s planned defection at the moment but acknowledged that discussions were ongoing.

“The point is that there is no official announcement yet. But consultations are ongoing,” Abdullahi stated.
