PHCN Begins Repairs in Epe After Months-Long Power Outage

Ekohotblog reports that relief is in sight for residents of Epe as the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) has started repairs on the faulty power supply that has left the area in darkness for months.

 

This breakthrough follows a critical meeting held on 5th September 2024 at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, led by Hon. Abiodun Tobun, representative of Epe Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, and Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government.

The prolonged blackout has caused serious disruptions to both personal and business activities in Epe. Following the meeting, PHCN officials have mobilized engineers to begin repairs, signaling a swift resolution to the electricity issues.

 

In an exclusive interview, Hon. Abiodun Tobun assured residents that electricity will be restored soon. “Residents can expect power to be back between Friday and Sunday, with Sunday being the latest,” he stated.

 

Tobun also emphasized that residents should switch off all electrical appliances during this period to avoid damage once power is restored.

 

Princess Surah Animashaun, who has been actively involved in the efforts, expressed gratitude to the Ministry of Energy and PHCN for their quick response.

 

“We’ve been working hard to ensure this issue is resolved. I’m happy to see that progress is being made, and soon, life in Epe will return to normal,” she said.

The power outage has significantly impacted businesses in Epe, with many relying on generators to stay operational. Market leader Mrs. Abike Olatunji shared her relief, saying, “It’s been tough.

 

We’ve spent so much on fuel, and I’m glad the repairs have finally started. Hopefully, this will bring some much-needed stability.”

 

As repairs continue, the people of Epe are optimistic that the restoration of power will soon bring an end to months of hardship.
