In his remarks, the Minister of Transportation, Sa’id Alkali, praised Wike for the initiative, describing it as a “landmark achievement.”
Alkali added that the transportation ministry would partner with the FCTA to sustain the project, noting that it would improve public transport and boost economic activity in the capital.
The Minister said, “This laudable initiative will undoubtedly improve public transport and boost economic activities in the FCT.
“It will also provide a veritable avenue to facilitate the realisation of the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, which places transportation at the top of its priorities.”
He further urged stakeholders, particularly leaders of road transport unions, to maximise the use of the terminal.
In a related development, Wike announced that the Kugbo terminal would be inaugurated next week, while the one at the central business area terminal would be ready before the end of 2025.
The FCT Minister further revealed plans to construct three more terminals this year in Gwagwalada, Bwari, and Kuje.
He explained that the terminals aim to enhance security by reducing the number of vehicles on the road and eliminating the “one chance” syndrome, where commuters are vulnerable to attacks by unknown drivers.
