Agam said that the action was also in line with the directive of the Plateau government for staff of all government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to submit themselves for mandatory COVID-19 tests.

He explained that staff of the university took turns to undergo the test being conducted by officials of the State Ministry of Health led by one Mr Philemon Dagwa.

He said that the test, scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 6 and Friday, Aug. 7, was being held at the university’s Health Centre, Bokkos.

“Before the tests were conducted, staff had to submit their personal details which includes: name, age and medical history through a form before their samples were collected.

“Our joy is that Dagwa, the team leader of the health officials, expressed delight and satisfaction with the turnout and conduct of our staff,” he said.

The PRO stated that the health officials assured the university that results from the tests would be out in a week’s time.

According to him, some staff of the university expressed appreciation and commended the state government for the initiative.

“The exercise to us is very important and demonstrates government’s concern for the well-being of its workforce,” he further stated

Agam, however, disclosed that all Principal Officers of the university including the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Yohana Izam, were expected to avail themselves on Friday, Aug. 7 for the tests alongside other staff, who could not be tested on Thursday.
