Eko hot blog reports that Renowned Nigerian media personality Tolu Oniru, popularly known as Toolz, recently shared her thoughts on podcasting, suggesting that if she held the presidential office, individuals would need to apply for approval before launching podcasts.
During the latest episode of her podcast, The Off Air Show, Toolz emphasized the need for regulation, proposing that aspiring podcasters undergo English proficiency and sanity tests as part of the approval process.
“If I was ever to become President, you will have to apply to do a podcast.
You will have to write an English proficiency test and also do a sanity test,” she remarked.
The burgeoning podcast culture in Nigeria has seen hosts and guests stirring controversies on social media with their outspoken views, prompting discussions about the need for oversight.
As a result, some social media users have called for increased censorship of podcasts in the country.
