Both pleaded not guilty to the charges. The prosecution stated that Oghenebrume was the mastermind and had been wanted for the previous abduction of one Fyneman in Sagbama where N50 million ransom was paid.
He allegedly relocated his family to Delta State and was residing alone in Mbiama where he committed the acts. Okpowodo was identified as owning the mechanic workshop where the targeted victim, Ayama, repairs his vehicles.
According to the police counsel, Okpowodo was overheard planning the abduction of Ayama on his return from Ekeremor LGA.
