The suspects, identified as Blessing Wefsutu (27), Chineye Christian (36), Archibong Udeme Ifereke (23), and Maurine Peter (25), were employees of an educational consultancy firm located in the Ago Okota area of Lagos.
The case was first reported at the Ago Okota Police Division before being transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Yaba for further investigation.
Initial findings revealed that the consultancy firm allegedly posed as a legitimate agency offering Canadian and Australian work visas, collecting large sums from unsuspecting clients.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, advised the public to exercise caution and verify the legitimacy of travel and recruitment agencies before entering any visa-related agreements.
He reiterated the command’s dedication to protecting the public from fraudulent schemes and ensuring that offenders are brought to justice.
According to reports, the suspects promised guaranteed job placements abroad but failed to fulfill their promises, prompting complaints and subsequent police action.
“Further investigations indicate that the syndicate includes additional accomplices who are currently at large.
“The command is intensifying efforts to apprehend the fleeing suspects and ensure that all those involved are brought to justice,” the statement read.
