A 32-year-old dispatch rider, Emmanuel Jegede, has died after suspected hoodlums allegedly pushed him off his motorcycle during an attempted extortion along the Ikotun-Idimu Road in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the incident reportedly occurred around 10 a.m. on Wednesday after the rider had completed a delivery and was heading to another destination.

According to eyewitnesses, the deceased was riding through the Alhaja area when two suspected hoodlums allegedly attempted to stop him and pushed him while he was still in motion.
The rider reportedly lost control of the motorcycle, crashed into the road median and died at the scene.
Another eyewitness said the incident followed a minor collision between the dispatch rider and a tricycle operator after he emerged from a nearby street.
The source said residents and some youths, including the suspected hoodlums, intervened and settled the disagreement. However, the hoodlums allegedly demanded money from the rider for resolving the dispute.
When the rider reportedly told them he had no money, the suspects allegedly lay in wait and pushed him as he rode past, causing the fatal crash.
The hoodlums were said to have fled the scene immediately after the incident.
Police officers from the Idimu Police Division later evacuated the victim’s body.
Confirming the incident, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, CSP Abimbola Adebisi, said investigations were ongoing.
She explained that police received a report from an official of the Federal Road Safety Corps about a fatal accident and found the victim’s lifeless body beside his motorcycle.
According to Adebisi, investigators have obtained two accounts of the incident. One suggested the rider lost control while trying to avoid a pedestrian, while the other alleged that some boys fled the scene immediately after the crash, raising suspicion that they may have attacked or pushed the rider.
She added that the police are working to obtain CCTV footage from the area to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
