The inquiry was prompted by widespread online publications from the land speculator, known as Ibile of Ibeju-Lekki, who alleged that officers at the Zone 2 Command in Onikan, Lagos, declared him wanted for failing to pay N150 million, which they claimed was needed to release him from the case.
However, police sources contend that these allegations stem from the speculator’s desperation to avoid justice after he allegedly kidnapped and assaulted Chief Dupe Damazio, the matriarch of the well-known Oni-Orisan family, over a land dispute.

The incident was reported to the Zone 2 Command, but attempts to summon the land speculator failed as he claimed that no one could arrest him.
The situation escalated when he reportedly orchestrated an attack on police officers who attempted to invite him regarding the complaint. Following this, he released a TikTok video accusing the police of attempting to extort N150 million from him on behalf of the IGP.

According to police officials in Abuja, the allegations are being taken seriously. The land speculator has been invited to present his case in Abuja but has remained elusive since the invitation.
As a result, police authorities have vowed to apprehend him, particularly in light of his claims that several high-ranking officers were on his payroll, which may explain his refusal to respond to their summons.
