The Nigeria Police Force has reportedly introduced a tricycle (Keke Napep) loan scheme to empower its personnel as part of a welfare initiative approved by the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that according to a report by Sahara Reporters, the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) overseeing the Police Cooperative Society in Lagos issued a wireless message on March 12, 2025, informing all departments, commands, and units about the loan scheme under the Nigeria Police Cooperative Multi-Purpose Society Ltd.
The report states that Bulk Stalker Engineering Limited has been selected as the supplier of the tricycles.
Only interested members of the police force will have access to the scheme, which offers different types of tricycles, including tricycle taxis, pick-up trikes, and trike ambulances.
The cost of each tricycle under the scheme is ₦5.5 million, with a monthly repayment plan of ₦90,000 over a period of 60 months. Deductions will be made directly from the recipients’ salaries through the Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System (IPPIS).
The wireless message further noted that application forms would be available at all police cooperative shops for interested officers.
However, as of the time of filing this report, the Nigeria Police spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, has yet to confirm the development.
