According to him, Emmanuel recruited drivers with criminal intentions and recommended them to unsuspecting car owners for employment.
He explained that after working for about one or two weeks, the drivers would seize their employers’ vehicles and smuggle them across the border. In some cases, the vehicles were dismantled in Ogun State, and the spare parts sold to dealers.
Jimoh said, “On July 17, in the Ogijo area of Ogun State, detectives arrested one David Emmanuel, who leads a gang that specialises in deceiving vehicle owners into employing them as drivers. Once employed, they would disappear with the vehicle within weeks, often moving it across the border. Some vehicles were dismantled in Ogun State.”

The Commissioner of Police added that Emmanuel confessed during interrogation and led detectives to the Iba area of Lagos State, where another suspect, 36-year-old Ifeanyi Obi, was arrested.
Further investigation took the police to the Ladipo area of Lagos State, where it was confirmed that the stolen vehicles had been dismantled.
“All the parts were gone. Investigation is ongoing, and the suspects will be charged in court,” Jimoh stated.
