Popular Nigerian musician Timaya has revealed his admiration for controversial street-pop artist Portable, saying the singer reminds him of his younger self.

Recalling his initial reaction to Portable’s music, Timaya highlighted the similarities between their early careers.
He said, “That’s why I like Portable. When he first came out, I told 2Baba while we were on our way to Delta State, ‘Have you heard that guy, Portable? Zazu Zeh? That guy is just like me because I was wild back then.’
Timaya went on to explain that many Gen Z fans are unaware of his fiery early career. “These Gen Zs don’t know about my early days. So, when people say Timaya is calm and stays out of trouble, I just laugh. If only they knew. I was really crazy back then, hot like fire. But I’ve grown; I’ve calmed down now. Back then, it was all part of my strategy.”
