President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Professor Segun Aina as the new Registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
Aina will succeed Professor Is-haq Oloyede, whose second tenure as JAMB Registrar is expected to end on July 31, 2026.

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the appointment was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the statement, President Tinubu expressed confidence in Aina’s ability to build on the reforms and achievements recorded under Oloyede’s leadership.
The President said he expects the incoming registrar to deploy his experience and expertise to further strengthen the examination body and improve its operations.
Onanuga described Aina as an accomplished academic and systems expert with strong experience in digital infrastructure, examination systems and institutional reforms.
Professor Aina, who will turn 40 in July, studied Computer Systems Engineering at the University of Kent, United Kingdom, where he obtained a Bachelor of Engineering degree.
He also earned a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, as well as a PhD in Digital Signal Processing from Loughborough University, United Kingdom.
In addition, he completed the Senior Management Programme at the Lagos Business School.
Aina is currently a Professor of Computer Engineering at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
His relationship with JAMB reportedly began during his National Youth Service, where he gained early experience in national admissions and examination processes.
Over the years, he has worked extensively in the areas of technology, policy development and institutional transformation, advising both federal and state governments on digital transition and system reforms.
At the age of 39, Aina became one of Nigeria’s youngest professors in Computer Engineering and is now set to become the youngest Registrar in JAMB’s history.
He has also served as a consultant to examination bodies including the National Examinations Council, NECO, the National Business and Technical Examinations Board, NABTEB, and several state ministries of education.

Aina is a member of several professional bodies, including the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria, COREN, the Nigerian Society of Engineers, NSE, the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, IEEE, and the Institution of Engineering and Technology, IET.
