Rape Case: Man Says “We Are Enjoying Ourselves”
A twenty-two-year-old man known as Friday Udeme has been caught having sexual intercourse with a fifteen-year-old girl in Lagos, but he insisted that the victim was his girlfriend and they have had sex several times before they were finally caught.
According to information gathered, Udeme told the Police that they loved each other and they enjoyed it, adding it was why both of them kept it to themselves before the girl’s parents later found out and reported the issue to the Police.
The act took place at Amodu Bello Street, Papa Ashafa area of Agege, where they reside.
They were said to have been having sexual intimacy secretly and kept it hidden from everyone around over a period before they were caught.
However, after the young lovers were caught, the issue was reported to the Police and Udeme was arrested and later handed over to the Gender Section of the Police Command for further interrogation.

The suspect was found guilty by the police due to the tender age of the victim and was charged before the Ogba Magistrates Court for defilement. It is a serious case which can lead the suspect to many years in jail If he is later found guilty by the Court.
Supol Benson Emerhi, the prosecutor asked the Court to refer the issue to the Director of Public Prosecution in Lagos State for advice since the case involved a minor.
Mrs O. Sule-Amzat, The Presiding Magistrate, refused his plea or grant him bail after the prosecutor moved the motion for Director of Public Prosecution’s advice.
Udeme was remanded in prison custody pending the outcome of the advice.
The case might be transferred to the High Court if the Director of Public Prosecution’s report finds Udeme culpable and recommends that he should be tried for defiling the fifteen-year-old girl as investigated by the Police.
