Right from the outset, it was evident that Manchester City had come to conquer. Bernardo Silva, the Portuguese maestro, showcased his brilliance in the first half, becoming the executioner of Real Madrid’s hopes. Silva capitalized on a superb pass from Kevin De Bruyne and unleashed a powerful strike, finding the back of the net and leaving the exceptional Thibaut Courtois helpless in goal.
Not content with just one goal, Silva exhibited his prowess in the air by deftly guiding a header past Courtois.
This impressive header came after Courtois had initially parried a shot from Ilkay Gundogan, only to see Silva react with impeccable precision. City’s attacking prowess was relentless, and they had numerous opportunities to extend their lead. In contrast, Real Madrid struggled to make any significant impact in the attacking third, with City’s unyielding defense thwarting their every attempt.
Although Real Madrid showed some signs of improvement in the second half, it was too little, too late. Eder Militao’s unfortunate own goal compounded Madrid’s misery and sealed their fate. City’s dominance was evident throughout the encounter, leaving the Spanish side with no real chance of recovery.
In the closing stages of the match, substitute Julian Alvarez added the final flourish to City’s victory. Displaying remarkable composure, Alvarez swiftly found the back of the net with a delicate touch, further solidifying City’s well-deserved ticket to Istanbul.
