Refusing to Sleep With Directors Led to My Nollywood Blacklisting – Actress Jumoke George
Nollywood actress Olajumoke Amoke Olatunde George, widely known as Jumoke George, has revealed that sexual demands and her skin tone contributed to her 14-year absence from the film industry.
In a recent interview with Oyinmomo TV, the actress shared that many directors criticized her dark complexion and suggested she bleach her skin to secure roles. Jumoke, who made a return to acting after years away, also recounted being blacklisted for refusing to engage in inappropriate relationships with industry executives.

She explained, “My skin tone wasn’t my only issue. I was also sidelined because I refused to sleep around. Directors would complain that I was too dark, and I’d tell them to adjust the lighting instead of asking me to bleach.”
Jumoke further described the pressure she endured, stating that up to 30 people had pressured her for sexual favors. “If you dated one of them and moved on, they would gossip about you. I refused to put myself in that situation and avoided being passed around.”

Her struggle became clearer when she confronted a director at a café, asking why she wasn’t being cast anymore. He confirmed that a group of directors had decided to stop giving her roles because she declined their advances.
“He asked what I gained from turning them down, and I broke down in tears,” she recalled, adding that she prayed to God for guidance after the encounter.
