Adelabu said the government would sustain ongoing reforms in the power sector with renewed commitment, focusing on improving grid stability and expanding transmission infrastructure nationwide.
“Looking ahead, our focus remains unshakable: to deliver reliable, accessible and sustainable electricity to power our homes, industries and dreams,” the minister said.
He disclosed that collaboration with Electricity Distribution Companies would be strengthened to improve service delivery, while metering initiatives would be expanded to cover more communities.
According to him, the Light Up Nigeria initiative would remain a major priority in 2026, with special attention given to industrial clusters and agricultural hubs to boost economic growth and job creation.

Adelabu also said renewable energy development would be scaled up, particularly through solar and hydropower projects, to provide electricity to underserved and rural communities.
Reviewing the performance of the power sector in 2025, the minister described the year as one of foundational progress, despite existing challenges. He noted that efforts to strengthen the national grid led to improved stability.
He added that the Presidential Power Initiative, also known as the Siemens project, contributed significantly to reducing frequent grid collapses experienced in previous years.
“As Phase One of the PPI continues, we assure Nigerians of a stronger grid that will make disturbances a thing of the past,” Adelabu said.
The minister thanked Nigerians for their patience and resilience, stressing that public cooperation remained essential to achieving a stable energy future. He also urged citizens to protect power infrastructure and adopt energy-efficient practices.
Extending New Year greetings to residents of Oyo State, Adelabu expressed optimism that 2026 would bring measurable improvements in electricity supply across the country.
