Remains of Missing Man Found Inside Crocodile in North-Eastern Australia
Australian police confirmed on Tuesday that human remains, believed to belong to a 40-year-old man missing since Saturday, were discovered inside a crocodile in Far North Queensland.
EKO HOT BLOG gathered that the man had disappeared near the Annan River Bridge, where he was suspected to have been attacked by a crocodile.
Police are conducting a formal identification process but believe the remains are those of the missing New South Wales resident. Further testing is planned to confirm the identity.
The search and rescue operation for the missing man has been suspended.
On Monday, it was reported that a large crocodile, suspected of being involved in the attack, was humanely euthanized. The nearly five-meter-long reptile, identified by its distinctive snout markings, was found about 4 kilometers from the site of the incident.
The crocodile was estimated to be several decades old.
The man had been fishing with his wife and children at the popular spot. Authorities are also investigating social media claims that individuals were seen feeding crocodiles in the area prior to the incident.
