An abandoned Federal Grain Reserve facility located along Araga, Poka in Eredo LCDA has been transformed into a modern Model Livestock Market through the intervention of Wale Raji, marking another major milestone in agricultural and economic development within Epe Federal Constituency.
Eko Hot Blog reports that for several years, the facility remained deserted and overtaken by bushes, environmental decay, and criminal activities, becoming a source of concern for residents within the community.
However, following the intervention of Rep. Wale Raji, who serves as Chairman of the House Committee on Livestock Development, the abandoned federal asset was successfully retrieved, rehabilitated, and converted into a thriving livestock market aimed at supporting farmers, traders, and livestock businesses across Lagos State.
The transformation project has since changed the outlook of the environment, turning what many residents once described as a dangerous and forgotten location into an active center of commerce and agricultural activities.
Residents and stakeholders within Poka and surrounding communities have continued to commend the project, describing it as a major boost to economic growth, food security, and grassroots development.
According to community members, the modern livestock market now provides easier access for livestock farmers and traders while also creating opportunities for employment and commercial expansion within the area.
“This place used to be abandoned and feared by many people because of criminal activities and overgrown bushes, but today it has become a place of business and development,” a resident stated.
The project is also expected to support farmers participating in agricultural programmes within the Araga axis by providing a structured and accessible market for livestock trading and related businesses.
Rep. Wale Raji had earlier noted that the initiative was designed to ensure abandoned public facilities are transformed into productive assets capable of directly benefiting the people and improving local economies.
The lawmaker reaffirmed his commitment to projects that promote agriculture, economic empowerment, infrastructure development, and sustainable growth across Epe Federal Constituency.
The transformation of the Poka Grain Reserve into a Model Livestock Market continues to attract positive reactions from residents who see the project as a practical example of impactful representation and purposeful leadership.
