Ritual Rites Performed as Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun Confers Chieftaincy Titles at 25th Coronation Anniversary

In a grand display of tradition and royalty, Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, the Oloja of Epe Land, marked his 25th Coronation Anniversary and 80th Birthday with the conferment of prestigious chieftaincy titles on notable dignitaries on Thursday, 20th February, 2025.

Ekohotblog reports that the historic ceremony, held at the Epe Palace, was characterized by the performance of traditional ritual rites, symbolizing the deep cultural heritage of Epe.

As part of the chieftains installation, ritual rites were performed to honor the ancestral spirits and invoke blessings upon the newly installed chiefs.

The rites, conducted by traditional custodians and high chiefs, included the chanting of incantations, pouring of libations, and blessing with sacred kola nuts, signifying acceptance and authority.

Among those honored were Hon. Abiodun Tobun, who was installed as the Balogun of Epe Land, and Engr. Adeniyi, who received the title of the first Bashorun in These titles are highly revered and carry significant responsibilities within the community.

During the ceremony, Hon. Abiodun Tobun was adorned with symbolic regalia and blessed by the traditional priests, affirming his new status as Balogun.

Expressing his gratitude, he said, “I am deeply honored by this recognition. The ritual rites performed today signify the depth of our tradition and the responsibility I now carry. I pledge to serve Epe Land with integrity and dedication.”

Engr. Adeniyi, after undergoing the ritual rites for his installation as Bashorun, expressed his appreciation, stating, “Today’s ceremony is a profound reminder of our cultural heritage.

I am grateful to our revered king for this honor, and I am committed to contributing positively to the progress of our community.”

Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun emphasized the importance of performing the ritual rites, noting, “Our tradition is our identity.

These rites are not mere formalities but a spiritual connection to our ancestors. It signifies the approval of the gods and confers authority upon the new chiefs.”

The event was graced by numerous monarchs, including Oba Asunmo Aderibigbe, the Alayandelu of Odo Ayandelu Kingdom, Oba Odomola, Oba Ladaba, Elegunshin, Onibeji, Aladepekun, Aladeuraka, Oba Araromi, and other royal fathers, reflecting the unity among traditional rulers in the region.

In his tribute, Oba Asunmo Aderibigbe praised Oba Kamorudeen Animashaun, saying, “He is a king of wisdom and humility. His leadership style is a reflection of his love for his people. Today’s ceremony showcases his commitment to preserving our cultural values.”

The colorful celebration was marked by cultural dances, traditional music, and the chanting of ancestral songs, creating an atmosphere of royalty and spirituality.
