– Rivers State Government has directed that schools in the state reopen for exit classes on the August 5, 2020.
– The Commissioner of Education, Prof Kaniye Ebuka disclosed this on Tuesday evening.
– Prof Kaniye said the Governor made the approval so the exit classes return and prepare for their examinations.
– The Commissioner enjoined all schools to follow COVID-19 protocol.
The Rivers State Government has directed the opening of secondary schools across the state for exit classes from Wednesday.
Commissioner for Education, Prof. Kaniye Ebuka, in a statement on Tuesday evening said Governor Nyesom Wike approved the development to allow the students write their examinations.
EEbuka said all responsible school officials should ensure maintenance of all extant COVID-19 protocol.
He said, ‘following satisfactory preparation for the re-opening of schools in Rivers State, the State Governor His Excellency Governor Nyesom Wike, has approved the re-opening of secondary schools in the state for the purpose of allowing candidates in exit classes only to return to school and revise with their teachers and write their exit examinations.’

The State Government decision trails the Federal Government directive that all schools resume so the exit classes prepare for their final examinations which would be commencing on August 17, 2020.
