Inspector Michael Odey has been officially dismissed following the conclusion of an orderly room trial, while Assistant Superintendents of Police (ASPs) Doubara Edonyabo and Talent Mungo face recommendations for dismissal.
The spokesperson for the state police command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed these developments in a statement issued in Port Harcourt on Wednesday.
Iringe-Koko emphasized the commitment to transparency and accountability throughout the investigation process.
“As part of our commitments to transparency and accountability, we are providing the following information: After a thorough investigation, two officers have been officially queried and recommended for dismissal as per established procedures,” stated Iringe-Koko.
The dismissal of Inspector Michael Odey comes as a result of the orderly room proceedings, and the ASPs’ cases are under review by the Inspector General of Police and the Police Service Commission.
The police command aims to ensure a fair and just resolution in the disciplinary process involving the ASPs.
“All three officers remain in custody as investigations continue into two additional cases of a similar nature. Updates on these investigations will be provided in due course,” assured Iringe-Koko.
Encouraging residents to report any misconduct promptly, Iringe-Koko highlighted the seriousness with which such reports would be handled.
The commitment to upholding fairness and justice remains a top priority for the Rivers State Police Command.
This decisive action reflects the police command’s dedication to maintaining the integrity of the force and addressing any misconduct by its officers.
