Reflecting on his long career, Ronaldo admitted he is no longer the same player who dominated world football during his peak years. However, he maintained that his commitment and influence within the national team remain as strong as ever.

The veteran forward highlighted his performances at the tournament, pointing to his three goals, including a brace against Uzbekistan during the group stage and a penalty in Portugal’s victory over Croatia, as evidence that he can still contribute at the highest level.
Responding to repeated questions about retirement, Ronaldo declined to reveal when he plans to step away from international football, insisting the decision will be made on his own terms.
He said discussions about the end of his career have followed him since his teenage years and stressed that outside opinions would not determine when he decides to retire.
Ronaldo also addressed the criticism he has received throughout his career, saying he has grown accustomed to negative comments and media scrutiny over the past two decades.
According to him, attempts to write him off have continued for 23 years, but they have failed to diminish his determination or passion for representing Portugal.
The five time Ballon d’Or winner described the ongoing World Cup as the most enjoyable of his career, saying the emotions on and off the pitch have made the tournament particularly memorable.
He added that winning the World Cup would not define his legacy, noting that his achievements and dedication to football speak for themselves.

The former Manchester United, Real Madrid and Juventus star said growing older has given him greater perspective, allowing him to view criticism differently.
Rather than being discouraged by attacks from critics, Ronaldo said they have contributed to his personal growth and maturity.
In a light-hearted exchange with reporters, he joked with a journalist whom he believed was not among his admirers before answering more questions with a smile.
Ronaldo concluded by saying that regardless of the outcome against Spain, he would leave the pitch with a clear conscience, convinced that he has given everything possible to football and to his country throughout his career.
