Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has suspended his Senior Special Assistant on Print Media, Mr. Wale Ajetunmobi, following an incident involving the misrepresentation of facts on his personal X account.
The governor’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Gboyega Akosile, disclosed the suspension in a statement issued on Tuesday, titled ‘Governor Sanwo-Olu suspends aide.’

EKO HOT BLOG reports that the statement highlighted that Ajetunmobi’s suspension was due to a tweet he shared in which he misrepresented details about a past event. Akosile underscored that the Sanwo-Olu administration strongly opposes any form of extrajudicial action, emphasizing, “That is not who we are. That is not our way.”
According to PUNCH Online, a review of Ajetunmobi’s X account, under the handle #Riddwane, on Tuesday revealed that the tweet had been deleted.
On November 24, 2024, Premium Times reported that Ajetunmobi tweeted from his account, claiming that individuals responsible for setting fire to the Television Continental station in Lagos during the 2020 #EndSARS protests had been “hunted down and executed.” He added that one of the alleged “executed” individuals was a young boy, whose identity he did not disclose, who sold cooking gas in the Ketu area and was reportedly found with an AK-47 rifle.
The deleted tweet read, “The full story of people who burnt down TVC in 2020 will be told one day, with gory clips and images. One thing to note: majority of them have been hunted down and executed.
One of them, a young boy trading in cooking gas around Ketu, was found with an AK-47 at the site. Even his neighbours were shocked. But the full gist is better saved for later.”
