EKO HOT BLOG reports that the restrictions apply to tourists, business travellers, and those visiting family but do not affect Hajj, Umrah, diplomatic, or residency visa applicants.
The affected nations include Nigeria, Algeria, Bangladesh, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Iraq, Jordan, Morocco, Pakistan, Sudan, Tunisia, and Yemen.
Saudi authorities cited visa misuse as a major reason for the change, stating that some visitors had been using multiple-entry visas to overstay illegally or perform Hajj without proper authorization.
The Saudi government enforces a strict Hajj quota per country, and the influx of unauthorized pilgrims has contributed to overcrowding. In 2024, more than 1,200 pilgrims reportedly died due to extreme heat and congestion, a situation authorities believe was worsened by unregistered attendees.
Officials describe the suspension of multiple-entry visas as a temporary measure aimed at managing crowd control and ensuring compliance with Hajj regulations. However, they have not provided a specific timeline for reviewing or lifting the restriction.

Travellers from the affected countries are advised to apply for single-entry visas well in advance and strictly follow the new regulations to avoid penalties or travel disruptions. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged all travellers to stay updated through official government channels.
