Alhaji Shakirudeen Akanni Seriki (Bamu), the Apase of Epeland and a member of the Lagos State Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC), has assured residents that local council authorities are working tirelessly to restore power as quickly as possible.

In an interview with Journalists, he emphasized that the chairmen of the various local councils in the Epe Division have united to tackle the electrical problem.
“The local council chairmen are not relenting in their efforts to ensure that the problem is resolved as quickly as possible.
They met last week to discuss the matter and are committed to ensuring that all is well in no distant time.
This is a good opportunity for me to say that we must all work together to achieve a lasting solution.
It’s not just about the government but also the community at large.”
He also urged well-meaning individuals in Epe to support government initiatives aimed at protecting public infrastructure, particularly electricity installations.
Beyond the power crisis, Seriki addressed the political landscape of Lagos State, expressing confidence in the unity within the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He mentioned concerns about internal conflicts following the impeachment of former Lagos State House of Assembly Speaker Rt. Hon. Mudasiru Obasa and the emergence of Rt. Hon. Mojisola Lasbat as the new speaker.
“The leaders of the party are not relenting in their commitment to bring sanity into the affairs of governance, and everyone will be safe in the end,” he assured.
On the forthcoming local council elections, Seriki called for competent leadership at the grassroots level, stressing that governance at the local level must maintain high standards.
“I have no doubt that the party will continue to support good governance in our local governments.
That is the only government closer to the people, and we cannot afford to go below the threshold of standards.
In Epe here, any aspiring person who is willing to run for an office must be given the nod from his ward, and no compromise can be made on this issue.”
He commended notable politicians in Epe, including Hon. Princess Surah Olayemi Animashaun, the Executive Chairman of Epe Local Government, for her dedication to service.
“Hon. Surah Olayemi Animashaun is a perfectionist and performer. Her activities have always inspired me to support her at all times.
Being a woman has not debarred her from doing the right things for the progress of the community,” he stated.
Seriki praised other leaders, including Hon. Wale Raji, Hon. Abiodun Tobun, and Hon. Sylvester Ogunkelu, for their consistent performance and commitment to Epe’s development.
“This is what we need in our party. A performer will always see my nod at all times,” he declared.
As political activities heat up, he urged aspirants to prioritize community service over personal ambition, emphasizing that leadership is about making a tangible difference.

“There’s nothing wrong with people aspiring for offices in the councils. The question is, are they really ready to serve?
Anyone who wants to contest for any position must be ready to give the community what it needs,” he concluded.
