The offer from Al-Hilal would make Messi the highest-paid player in the world, surpassing the salary of Paris Saint-Germain’s Neymar. Romano confirmed that Al-Hilal had sent an official bid to Messi, but his absolute priority is to continue playing in Europe.
Messi has been linked with moves to Manchester City, Paris Saint-Germain, and former club Barcelona since he became a free agent at the end of last season.
Barcelona has been struggling to keep their wage bill under control, and they would need to move several players on before making an offer to Messi. The club has already offered Messi a new contract with a 50% pay cut, but the player has yet to accept the offer.
Paris Saint-Germain has also made an offer to Messi, but the Argentine wanted sporting guarantees before agreeing to join the French club.

If Messi eventually accepts the offer from Al-Hilal, he will be renewing his rivalry with Cristiano Ronaldo, who already has 10 league goals for Al Nassr. Messi and Ronaldo have been considered the two best footballers in the world for more than a decade and have competed against each other in La Liga, the Champions League, and the international stage.
