EKO HOT BLOG reports that the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Araba Rufus Aiyenigba, disclosed this in a statement released Sunday in Abuja. He said the decision followed investigations by the National Working Committee (NWC), which found that El-Rufai never registered at his ward level but falsely declared himself a member of the SDP on social media.
The party accused El-Rufai of forging documents, staging misleading photo ops with suspended party officials, and attempting to drag the SDP into an unauthorized political coalition while aligning himself with the African Democratic Congress (ADC). These actions, the SDP said, were aimed at destabilizing the party and undermining its internal structure.
Despite being advised to properly register at his ward and pass eligibility procedures, El-Rufai reportedly ignored due process and instead self-registered and claimed to be the first member in a ward that already had members.
The SDP described his conduct as gross indiscipline, manipulation, and misinformation, stating that his actions disrupted peace within the party. The NWC ratified his expulsion and declared him ineligible to participate in or associate with any part of the SDP until July 28, 2055.

The party also notified the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and warned the public that El-Rufai has no right to represent or speak for the SDP at any level.
