Speaking during the visit, Vice President Shettima expressed deep sadness over the loss, describing Chief Ogbeh as a visionary leader and patriot who contributed immensely to Nigeria’s political and agricultural landscape.

According to the Vice President, Ogbeh’s passing is not just a loss to his family and community, but a significant blow to Nigeria’s national development and agricultural transformation efforts.
“Chief Audu Ogbeh was a man of uncommon wisdom and patriotism. He was deeply committed to the growth of our nation, especially in the area of agriculture. His death is an irreparable loss to our developmental journey,” Shettima said.
Chief Ogbeh had a long and distinguished career in public service. He served as Minister of Communications during the Second Republic and later as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development under the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. He was also a former National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before becoming a founding member of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Vice President was accompanied by other top government officials and political associates who also paid tribute to the late elder statesman.
