Bovi, who attended a Nigerian boarding school himself, reflected on his own experiences, which he believes helped him develop resilience and street-smart skills.
However, he explained that while he benefited from the experience, he did not want his children to face the same environment. According to the 45-year-old, bullying is deeply ingrained in the Nigerian educational system, which ultimately influenced his decision to send his children abroad.
“My kids don’t live in the country anymore. They’ve been in the UK for two years now. It started by accident; my first son has been there since 2021 in a boarding house,” Bovi said.
He emphasized that the decision to move was not solely driven by the quality of education, but by a desire to shield his children from the bullying culture he believes is accepted in Nigerian schools.
Bovi also addressed the broader issue of mass migration, attributing it to Nigeria’s lack of an enabling environment.
He pointed to the country’s ailing medical sector, where many doctors are leaving due to poor working conditions and lack of resources.
He explained that migration is not only motivated by financial opportunities but by the need for dignity, access to better resources, and a supportive work environment, which he believes is more prevalent in the West.

Bovi’s comments shed light on the challenges faced by Nigerians in the country’s education and healthcare systems, as well as the broader trend of migration. Despite these difficulties, Bovi noted that Nigeria’s ability to avoid war, food shortages, or natural disasters has helped maintain some stability, even as many Nigerians seek better opportunities abroad.
