EKO HOT BLOG reports that Speaking during a press briefing on Tuesday, the Senate’s spokesperson, Yemi Adaramodu, decried the escalating attacks and called for collaborative efforts involving all tiers of government, security agencies, and local stakeholders to put an end to the bloodshed.
“The Senate is tired of condolence visits. We must put a stop to the killings,” Adaramodu said. “This is why collaboration from everyone—federal, state, security agencies, and most importantly, the locals—is essential to finding a lasting solution.”
Adaramodu announced that a Senate delegation would visit the affected communities in partnership with the executive arm of government. The lawmakers plan to sympathize with victims and engage with local leaders and security stakeholders to understand the root of the violence and proffer sustainable solutions.
He also expressed strong support for President Bola Tinubu’s scheduled visit to Benue State on Wednesday, describing it as a strategic move that could reinforce peacebuilding and underscore the federal government’s commitment to addressing the crisis.
“With the visit of Mr. President tomorrow, it will make great mileage,” he said, adding that the Senate believes the President’s presence in the state will give significant momentum to the search for peace and the rebuilding of affected communities.

Benue State has been plagued by frequent attacks attributed to bandits and suspected herdsmen, leading to widespread displacement and loss of lives. Calls have intensified for the government to adopt a more proactive and permanent approach to ending the violence.
