EKO HOT BLOG reports that we are seeking an experienced Senior News Editor with a strong background in print, radio, and television media to oversee the public relations operations of an international NGO.

Responsibilities

Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists, and influencers to secure positive media coverage.
Draft and distribute press releases, media advisories, and pitch materials to targeted platforms.
Handle media inquiries and coordinate interviews with company spokespersons.
Develop and implement PR strategies in alignment with the organization’s objectives.
Maintain a consistent and professional voice for the brand across all communication channels.
Provide strategic media counsel to senior executives ahead of public appearances.
Design and manage crisis communication plans, serving as spokesperson during critical incidents.
Write speeches, articles, blog posts, op-eds, and other communication materials.
Oversee the creation of engaging and media-friendly content.
Plan and organize press events, conferences, and other public engagements.
Represent the organization at industry events, media interviews, and speaking opportunities.
Track and analyze media coverage to assess the effectiveness of PR campaigns.
Monitor public opinion trends and adapt strategies for improved media relations.
Mentor junior PR team members and guide their professional development.
Collaborate with marketing, social media, and internal teams to ensure unified communication efforts.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred).
Minimum of 15 years’ experience in public relations, media relations, or corporate communications.
Proven record of executing successful PR campaigns and securing media coverage.
Exceptional writing and verbal communication skills, with a strong ability to craft compelling narratives.
Established relationships with local, national, and industry-specific media outlets.
Solid experience in crisis management and handling sensitive communication issues.
