EKO HOT BLOG gathered that Ahmed, a key figure in the student wing of Hasina’s Awami League party, was attacked by unidentified assailants on Wednesday night, according to police officer Abu Bakkar.
The attack is believed to be retribution for Ahmed’s role in leading a mid-July assault on student protesters who were demanding Hasina’s removal from office.

“We rushed him to Gonoshasthaya Hospital, but he later succumbed to his injuries,” Bakkar stated.
Hospital staff confirmed to AFP that Ahmed died from multiple injuries sustained in the attack.
This marks the second killing of a high-ranking member of the Awami League’s student wing in September. Earlier in the month, Abdullah Al Masud, another student leader, was killed by a mob in Rajshahi after being accused of organizing counter-protests against the student-led demonstrations.
The uprising that led to Hasina’s ouster was marked by widespread violence, with more than 450 people killed. Her administration faced widespread criticism for human rights abuses, including mass arrests and extrajudicial killings of political opponents.
Since Hasina fled to India in early August, several senior members of her administration have been arrested, and many of her appointees in the judiciary and central bank have been removed.
Additionally, at least 25 journalists linked to her regime have been detained since the interim government, led by Nobel Peace Prize laureate Mohammed Yunus, assumed control of the country.
