High Priest Ikele, a prominent leader of the group, condemned the administration’s actions, stating that their practices are constitutionally protected and part of their cultural identity.
The native doctors claim that the government’s use of Agunaechemba is a witch-hunt and an attack on their fundamental rights to practice their chosen religion.
They argue that the administration’s actions are anti-traditional and are causing unnecessary stigmatization of their profession.
Speaking at a secret location, the group’s leader, High Priest Ikele, described Governor Charles Soludo’s actions as “unjust and discriminatory.”
Ikele said, “We’re not cultists or criminals. We’re traditional healers serving our communities for generations. Soludo’s attempts to stigmatise and suppress our activities won’t succeed.”

The native Doctors have vowed to continue their spiritual practices, rituals, and opposition to the state government until their demands are met.
In an act of protest, they have also pledged to challenge Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s second-term bid in the upcoming November 8, 2025 election.
Despite this resistance, the state government remains resolute in its efforts to enforce the recently unveiled Anambra State Homeland Security Law.
Under this legislation, several native doctors, including Chidozie Nwangwu (Akwa Okuko Tiwara Aki), Onyebuchi Okocha (Onyeze Jesus), and Ekene Igboekweze (Eke Hit), have been arrested for allegedly promoting money rituals and preparing charms for criminals.
