A police cruiser sped up to the hospital with that wounded little girl and so many of those officers already present to support the wounded cops rushed to help her.
In the middle of the crowd, a person was seen carrying her into the hospital.
Police say she is one of three people shot on South Orange Avenue. The other two victims are adults.
The child has a collapsed lung, but she is expected to survive.
People living in the area were already devastated to hear about the police officers, and then they heard about the little girl.
“I’m asking you, Mr. Mayor, put a stop to this, man! Because it has to stop! You need to put your foot down. We need you out here, bro. Put a stop to this, because this is crazy. It’s ridiculous, and people are losing their lives every day. It has to stop!” Newark resident Malenda Hamlett said.
There was no immediate word on the condition of the two adults injured in the shooting.
