A gas-laden tanker travelling at high speed caught fire after hitting a road bump and losing control along Abaranje Road in the Ikotun area of Lagos State.
Eko Hot Blog reports that the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed that the incident occurred at Ola Farm Bus Stop on Thursday and was swiftly brought under control without any loss of life or injuries.

In a statement, LASEMA Permanent Secretary Olawale Afolabi said emergency responders worked with the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service to extinguish the blaze, secure the scene and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings and other road users.
He added that officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and officers of the Nigeria Police Force from the Ikotun Division coordinated traffic and crowd control during the emergency operation.
“We are grateful to report that there was no loss of life, and no casualties were recorded. The situation has been brought under control, and the fire fully extinguished,” Afolabi said.
According to LASEMA, efforts were ongoing to evacuate the burnt tanker from the roadway, with heavy-duty equipment deployed for the recovery operation.
The agency urged motorists to observe speed limits, particularly around speed bumps and residential areas, stressing that responsible driving helps protect lives and property.
Afolabi reaffirmed LASEMA’s commitment to disaster preparedness, rapid emergency response and public safety, while commending all responding agencies and residents for their cooperation.
